Handlebar Breakout Cable - Connects Switches and Bar-end Indicators to mo.unit

Connect your handlebar switches and bar-end indicators to the Motogadget mo.unit with one thin, easy-to-install cable.

Every handlebar switch block and bar-end indicator comes with its own set of wires. Normally that means a thick bundle of leads to sleeve and squeeze out of the bars. With the Handlebar Breakout Cable, the connections are made inside the handlebar instead: push each device's leads into the 16-port housing, slide it into the bar, and bring a single cable out through a small hole near the bar clamps.

Nine ports carry individual circuits and the remaining seven are commoned to a shared ground wire. From the exit hole, the 10-core cable runs back to your mo.unit (or similar switch control module) or relays, with every core pre-terminated in a bootlace ferrule ready to push straight into the terminal block.

Easy, Tool-Assisted Push-In Connections

Each port uses a push-in spring terminal. To open a port, insert a small flat-blade screwdriver (0.4 x 2.0 mm) into the release slot beside it. The tool holds the spring open on its own, so you can leave it in place and use both hands to guide the wire in. Push the stripped wire (6 mm strip length) fully home, withdraw the screwdriver, and give the wire a gentle tug to confirm it's held. To remove a wire, insert the screwdriver again and pull the wire out.

We find this far easier than terminals with a press button, where you need one hand holding the button down while the other tries to feed in a fine wire.

3-Year Warranty!

Manufactured by us here in Australia using the highest quality components. If the cable fails within 3 years of purchase, we will replace it for you free of charge.

Features

  • 16-position push-in breakout box, sized to sit neatly inside the handlebars (minimum handlebar ID: 15mm)
  • 9 individual circuits plus 7 commoned ground positions
  • Single 10-core lead replaces a bundle of separate cable runs
  • Use for up to 9 switches, 8 switches and 1 powered device, or 7 switches and 2 powered devices (such as left and right bar-end indicators)
  • Tool-assisted push-in terminals: the release tool stays in place, leaving both hands free to insert the wire
  • Accepts wires from 0.14 to 0.5 mm² (26 to 20 AWG). If you run short of ground ports, two thin wires can be twisted together into one port, provided their combined size is no more than 0.5 mm²
  • Cores pre-terminated with bootlace ferrules for clean, secure connections
  • Ring terminal included for connecting the ground core to a chassis point, such as a mo.unit mounting point, if you're not using a terminal block or ground distributor
  • 24 AWG Tefzel (ETFE) conductors: thin, tough, and rated for high temperatures, well suited to the heat inside handlebars
  • Sealed and strain-relieved at the housing for durability under vibration

Specifications

  • Max total current: 3A (all circuits share one ground core)

  • Port wire size: 0.2 to 0.5 mm² stranded (24 to 20 AWG)
  • Strip length: 6 mm
  • Release tool: flat-blade screwdriver, 0.4 x 2.0 mm
  • Cable dia.: 4.8mm
  • Cable: 10-core, 24 AWG Tefzel
  • Total assembly length: 185cm
