Automotive-grade cable to ISO 6722-1:2011 (Class B), rated 105°C continuous, with excursions to 120°C. The same standard used for OEM vehicle wiring looms.

This kit has been sourced and assembled by us here at MMCC, specifically to handle the harsh Australian summer temperatures and the constant vibration typical of our customers builds, sized perfectly to suit a minimal aesthetic while comfortably exceeding the mo.unit's circuit protection threshold.

 

Why The Cable Spec Matters

Most generic hook-up wire sold for cable kits is rated to 70°C, isn't tested for resistance to fuel, oil, or abrasion and is intended for fixed installations. Perfectly fine for building infrastructure, less fine alongside a vibrating motor on a hot, Australian summer day.

Our cable is automotive-spec from the ground up: tested to ISO 6722-1 Class B, with plain copper conductors to BS EN 60228:2005, and PVC insulation offering genuine resistance to abrasion, cut-through, petrol, lubricating oils and diluted acids.

 

Less Copper, Same Current

The higher temperature rating of our automotive-spec PVC also means you don't need as much copper to carry the same current. We're able to match or exceed the current rating of general-purpose 70°C rated cable using thinwall cable with 33% less conductor cross-sectional area, resulting in a cable that's approximately 30% thinner overall and 34% lighter. A real practical benefit when you're trying to keep a harness slim without compromising on capacity, making it easier to conceal wiring on custom builds, particularly those with limited space.

 

Don't mistake thin for weak. 

Thinwall doesn't mean less protection. It's standard practice in automotive and aerospace wiring, where every gram and millimetre counts. The insulation is thinner because the compound itself is a higher-performance material, not because less of it has been used to cut corners: it's rated to the same 105°C, still resists abrasion, cut-through, fuel and oil, and still meets the same ISO 6722 standard as thicker-walled automotive cable. What actually determines whether a cable is safe for a given circuit is the conductor size and its current rating, not the thickness of the jacket around it - and those are unchanged here. The thinner wall just means a neater, more manageable harness that's easier to route through tight spaces.

 

Easy cable identification.

Our 1mm² cables have a tracer colour, making it easier to distinguish them from the other cable sizes in this kit when wiring up.

Includes bootlace ferrules which can be crimped onto the cable ends that connect to the mo.unit, making connection and disconnection quick and smooth.

The total length of cable is more than enough for the great majority of builds.
